Steven Bluman of Bluman Equestrian and Equo shows us around his farm in North Salem, NY. and shows us his favorite jumping exercise to do with Dalman Jump Co. jumps.
How Steven Bluman uses Dalman Jump Co in his arena
To warm up, Bluman circles over cavalettis several times on each lead. Once he feels that the horse is using their body correctly, he moves on to a full jumping exercise.
To set up an exercise, set up a cavaletti about 15 meters from a small vertical and then another 15 meters to another cavaletti. He starts off by getting a four stride to four stride. Then he adjusts his strides everytime– getting a five to five, a three to three, or four to three and so on.
Bluman says his training program uses this exercise for all levels of horses and riders to prepare for the show. According to Bluman, this is a great exercise because you are doing what you are asked to do in the show ring, but on a smaller scale, so it will be easier at competition.
Why Steven Bluman loves Dalman Jump Co.
Bluman says he looks for jumps that resemble what he sees in the show ring and DJC makes a great representation of what he needs for his horses to train at home.
“The material is great, it's long lasting, the wings are very easy to carry,” he says, “even the jumps that are bigger jumps are easy for one person to lift.”
