Amateur show jumper and professional equine photographer, Kaitlyn Karssen of Boss Mare Media shows us inside her tack locker built in the USA by Dalman Jump Co.
What Kaitlyn Karssen keeps in her DJC Tack Locker
As a self-proclaimed ‘tack hoarder,’ Karssen has a plethora of horse tack, but luckily the DJC tack locker can fit everything she needs.
On the top shelf of her tack locker, she keeps rider essentials– her helmet, extra gloves, phone chargers, a grooming box and treats for her horse, of course. The second shelf is home to her show saddle pads, leg wraps and a couple containers of polos and horse boots. Lastly, the bottom shelf is where she keeps all her vet materials– everything from vet wrap to fly spray.
Because she claims to always be losing her scissors she uses the handy hooks on the tack locker door to keep them– no more sticking them in random places and not being able to find them.
On the opposite side of her tack locker, she keeps all her tack. The door hooks easily store Karssen’s schooling and show girths. The inside hooks hold all her bridles, and the saddle stand holds half pads, schooling pads and, of course, her saddle.
The extra room under her saddle let her store her tall boots and even more horse treats.
Why Kaitlyn Karssen Loves her DJC Tack Locker
After doing a ton of research on what the best tack locker is, Karssen concluded that DJC’s fit the bill. She says she takes care of her horses all on her own– grooming, tacking up, etc.-- so having a convenient and organized place to keep all her supplies was vital.
One of the main reasons she chose the DJC tack locker is because it is the lightest weight one on the market. “Because I’m by myself a lot, it makes it really easy to move around. And the size was perfect for what I needed,” she says.
She also loves how the simple shelves allow her to customize the tack locker to how she wants to organize everything, rather than having to conform to various drawers and compartments.
