Jenny Dunion of Evermore, Inc. shows us the pony ring, which features a Dalman Jump Co. pony jump package, at River’s Edge farm in Wellington, Florida.
What are the benefits of having pony hunter jumps?
According to Dunion, there are a plethora of reasons adding DJC’s pony jumps to her ring benefits her training operation.
“Scott Stewart and I, we had this vision of what we wanted to see here… then we worked with Dalman to say ‘how can we make this vision in here aesthetically pleasing?’”
The answer was smaller versions of common hunter jumps to better suit ponies and their riders. The smaller pony jumps mesh seamlessly with regular sized hunter jumps. “To me they represents an old fashion hunt field where you have the double option,” Dunion says. It’s great for handy options because of this– you can turn a pony jump into a trot jump and angle out of a line.
The jumps are also of great benefit to Jasper Bloomberg, who is practicing on his small pony hunter here. “It’s a great way for him to count larger numbers,” Dunion says. It helps him prepare for rides beyond the ponies–foundation is everything!
“The jumps are beautiful; they are very very well made,” Dunion says. After four months in the Florida ring they look in brand new condition– they are used every single day as the program has over 70 horses in training.
