Puerto Rican showjumper Vasco Flores shows us the home base of Highport Stables in Wellington, Florida and shares one of his favorite jumping exercises using Dalman Jump Co. jumps.
What you need and setting up the jumping exercise
Before doing the full gymnastics jumping exercise, Flores likes to introduce parts of the grid. He does this so “the horse has a better idea of what he's going to see in the near future.” He breaks it down to one simple vertical– using DJC stick standards and round poles– with a rail on each side with three meter distance so they get acclimated and they feel comfortable before moving on to the more complex exercise.
Once warmed up, Flores sets up a row of four verticals with six meters in between each vertical and three meter guide rails between each vertical. The goal of this jumping grid is to keep the horse in balance and achieve a symmetric jump down the gymnastic.
Why Vasco Flores uses DJC products in all his rings
The stand out jump in Flores’ ring is his custom logo jump which was gifted to him by his now wife, Catherine Tyree Flores. “It’s very practical while at the same time it markets our brand and we are very excited to have it,” he says.
After years of working with DJC, Flores continues to use us for his jump needs because of exceptional service and quality. He especially like how light weight and easy to work with the jumps are. Flores even has a DJC tack locker!
