Stacia Klein Madden, the head trainer at Beacon Hill Show Stables, is well known for training some of the top young riders to numerous equitation, hunter and jumper championships. Beacon Hill’s success in the show ring is obvious and their key to preparing is by practicing well thought-out courses at home before heading to the show.
Take a look at how Beacon Hill Show Stables uses Dalman Jump Co. products in their Grand Prix Village arena:
During the long winter circuit in Wellington, FL. Stacia Klein Madden says the key to setting each week’s course is taking elements that were problematic for horses and riders the week before and trying to introduce them in the course build.
Common elements she includes are: a three-element line that is long to short to practice adjustability; broken lines to work on horses being on the inside lead; a water jump; and a combination or in and out.
Stacia says they keep a large inventory of jump fill to change out often. “We are trying to make the horses interested in the course, so we try to make sure to have a variety of things to put inside jumps,” she says.
As a top equitation barn that trains numerous riders to equitation finals and wins every year, Stacia finds it important to continuously add jumps that have been seen at equitation finals every year. This allows riders to be extra prepared for the sometimes spooky jumps seen on the championship courses. One stand-out equitation jump they have is DJC’s Turf Goal Skinny Equitation Jump which was actually featured in the 2020 Maclay finals.
