After giving us a tour around the beautiful Artemis Farm North– which has an indoor ring, outdoor ring and derby field all outfitted with Dalman Jump Co. jumps– Renato de Vita tells us why he loves DJC and shows us one of his favorite jumping exercises.
How to do Renato de Vita’s favorite jumping gymnastics exercise
He sets up the gymnastics by starting with a bounce rail to a vertical to a landing rail to a second vertical and another landing rail and vertical followed by one more landing rail. He uses DJC aluminum picket standards and round jump poles. See how he sets up the exercise here.
The trainer says this exercise is great for horses that rush in combinations. It is great for making the horse slow down and think with their feet. He says that you must concentrate on each individual obstacle, so focus on the first pole and set your distance to set up the grid well. The rider must keep the horse very straight and give them the time to jump every single element. Once the horse jumps it several times you can raise the jumps.
What do you love about Dalman Jump Co. jumps?
One of the main highlights of DJC jumps is how light they are, according to de Vita. He loves to use them to school at home and prepare for the horse show. “They are easy to move around and I can easily set some nice courses,” he says.
